Amazon.com Product Description Schumacher's SEM-1562A low amperage charger is an ideal way to maintain a battery's charge for people who don't use their vehicle everyday, who go short distances, or who do lots of stop-and-go driving. It can also be used to charge small batteries for ATVs, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and lawn tractors, or even for batteries that have a long storage time. In cold climates, they're indispensable for keeping batteries warm overnight and ready for starting.
The SEM-1562A charges both 6-volt and 12-volt batteries. | Features The SEM-1562A maintains both 6-volt and 12-volt batteries, keeping them at full charge using float-mode monitoring. The unit will automatically switch from full-charge to float-mode monitoring when the battery is charged to prevent overcharging. Smart display LEDs indicate whether the unit is in charge, charging, or trouble modes. Versatile The SEM-1562A is perfect for charging small batteries, maintaining small and large batteries kept in storage, and batteries for motorcycles, classic cars, TVs, and boats. It's small enough to fit under the hood of your car or truck. Safe and Effective The unit has a quick disconnect harness for easy removal. Use the 50 amp clamps to connect to the battery or permanently attach the ring connectors--great for hard to reach motorcycle batteries. It also has a reverse hookup protection in case the clamps are accidentally connected to the wrong terminals. Warranty Every Schumacher power source comes with a one-year limited warranty (90 days on battery).

Great charger but better deal is waiting for you December 18, 2007 Bortz (usa) 30 out of 30 found this review helpful
This is a great charger but the same company (schumacher's battery maintainer), makes an identical product for sears, branded as diehard.
It costs the same as on amazon but comes with a 3 year warranty, not the standard 1 yr. warranty found here. Plus you don't have to deal with shipping hassles when you can just go to your local sears and pick one up or exchange if you have problems.
Great maintainer February 22, 2006 J. E. Tomczyk (West Caldwell, Nuevo Jersey USA) 44 out of 48 found this review helpful
After having the battery on my "summer only" convertible go
flat last winter I decided to invest in a battery maintainer.
The Schumacher SEM-1652A was the best compromise of price (around
$40 with shipping), features (a normal charging rate, and a
lower maintaining rate, with overcharge protection and indicator
lights), and small size (fits easily under the hood by the
master cylinder, battery wiring adaptor with quick connect makes installation and removal a snap.
I'd add a few extra crimp-on terminals of various ring sizes to the kit,
so different power connections with the wiring adaptor could be made
(my car has the battery mounted in the front fender well, I had to get
larger ring terminals to go on the remote jump starting terminals
under the hood.
battery charger May 14, 2007 Normand E. Champagne (PA) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Very good item for charging and maintaining batteries. Have used on my motorcycle and car batteries, as well as my lawn mower battery. Works well and actually tells you when the battery is fully charged, which is one of the best features of this charger
Don't use for deep cycle batteries November 30, 2009 J. Miller (Indiana) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Bought this charger to charge/maintain my deep cycle battery used for emergency power outages. The manual included with this charger even describes it charging deep cycle batteries and gives a charging estimate of ~36hrs. Fine for what I'm looking for. The charger repeatedly aborted the charge on my brand-new battery. Their customer service tech said it wasn't meant to charge deep cycle batteries due to the higher internal resistance. This should have been made more clear in the packaging, labelling and product description. I've lost time and money. Now I have to go buy a 'real' charger...
Update - The charger was actually DOA. I returned it and replaced the charger with a new one on an auto-shop recommendation. It is working fine. Schumacher didn't want to own up to a bum charger when I called them earlier.
Great for charging replacement modifiedpowerwheels.com batteries! May 3, 2006 Jason Huber (United States) 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
I have purchased this charger along with several others and this is a perfect replacement for my daughters original power wheels battery charger. I use it for all batteries in my daughters 5 power wheels and love the fact that it stops when complete and will charge both the 12V and 6V.
I made a video about the process and more details at http://www.modifiedpowerwheels.com and cant write enough about this charger and the entire line of schumacher chargers!
